Save Money On DVDs
JULY 19TH, 2005
This is a really simple money tip but how many of us actually do it?
We all see that newly released DVD and think, "I must have it". It is true though if you are honest with yourself. I know personally I am guilty of this! I love my films and in the past fell into this trap all the time.
If you wait though you know that in 2 months time say it will be at least £5 cheaper! Better still wait another month or so to get it in 3 for £20 offers at Virgin or HMV! Thats a much better deal than paying £15 just because its newly released.
A lot of this boils down to impulse buying. If you think about your smaller, none essential purchases for a week before buying them you will save money! You will find you don't buy things in the end. Better still you might end up watching it at a friends and think, "Pleased I didn't buy that now".
By waiting you may still want that item but you might get it that bit cheaper. I know I personally enjoy something more when I got it as a bargain!
Its easy to have a shop about these days as well by using the Internet. Two of the best places to shop online for DVD's http://www.dvd.co.uk and http://www.play.co.uk
They tend to have good deals in there bargain areas. Another place worth checking is ex-rentals online. Blockbuster sell their ex-rentals online from £4.50 and they are guaranteed for a period with the original packaging, https://www.blockbuster.co.uk/Searchandbrowse/exrental.aspx
You could also rent those DVD's online. There is so many places doing it these days including Blockbuster (http://www.blockbuster.co.uk) even Stelios himself is in on the act (http://www.easycinema.com). Blockbuster charge £14.99 a month for unlimited DVD rentals with no due dates back. All postage and packaging is included and you can choose from about 27,000 DVD movies. They are even doing a 2 week free trial at the moment!
If your big on your movies and your spending lots of your money on them then you should definitely consider some of these points. They will certainly add up to keep more money in your pocket.
